The signal tower is the most unique building within the compound and was constructed to provide time signals to ships in the harbour 報(bào)時(shí)塔可謂整座水警總部最具特色之建筑,為海港船只報(bào)時(shí)。
The former marine police headquarters was constructed in 1884, comprises a main building, a stable block and signal tower commonly known as round house 前水警總部建于一八八四年,整組建筑包括主樓、馬廄及報(bào)時(shí)塔(俗稱圓屋)。
The compound comprises a main building, a stable block and the special feature of a two-storey time-signal tower, where a time ball was dropped at 1pm every day until 1907 to enable ships in the harbour to check their chronometers 主樓本為一所兩層高建筑,后于1920年代加建一層。日治期間,水警總部前草地下建有大規(guī)模地下通道二次大戰(zhàn)后,遂封閉地下通道,及重鋪草地。
